STORM: PREDICTABLE PERFORMANCE IN UNPREDICTABLE CONDITIONS
Kiting in gusty, highly variable wind is dangerous and unpredictable and is not recommended by Ocean Rodeo. However, we know there are high wind locations around the world and an element of highly skilled riders who live for the challenge of taming such places.
Rather than just being a shrunken version of an existing model, the Storm is designed from the ground up, making it different from most small kites. Built tough with extensive Dacron reinforcements, 5 struts and FST wingtips to maintain the Storm’s structural integrity in extreme conditions. The tow-point is tuned so that the kite stays balanced during gusts to prevent overflying. The turning speed is paced to match the natural lines of a hard carving kiteboard while the power delivery remains smooth in volatile winds.
The Storm incorporates over 13 years of design know-how to deliver predictable performance on big wind days. If you have the commitment to face the gnarliest conditions, be smart enough to ride with the best equipment available.
The Storm is built to operate over a massive wind range and, as such, needs to handle much higher angles of attack than a conventional kite, a situation which traditionally would cause the kite to stall. Venturi Technology introduces vents in the kite canopy which allow clean flowing air to pass through and re-laminate the air flow on the back side of the kite. This laminar air flow keeps the kite flying forward through the lulls when you're likely oversheeting to keep power in the kite.
FORWARD SWEPT WINGTIP TECHNOLOGY
FST Wingtips are used on the Storm to provide maximum sheeting range over a wildly variable expected wind range and angles of attack. By increasing the wingtip size your sheeting range is increased, resulting in greater depower and a more nuanced feel in the bar.
By sweeping the wingtips forward we also make relaunch easier, propping the kite up off the water and we do all of this without affecting the overall planform or bridle attachment points of the kite, meaning we get the benefits of a larger wingtip without changing any other parameters in the kite's design.
Designed to fully roll over and disable your kite in the event of an eject or total depower. The Direct De-power System allows for near total depower of your kite and easy, on water reset and relaunch in the event of an eject. Ideal for riders of all levels, beginner to pro
