Learn to Kitesurf – Brighton
Surface2Air Sports has been giving top quality, professional Kite Surfing Courses and Power Kite Lessons since 1999 making us one of the oldest and best established Kitesurfing and Powerkite centres in the world. With over 13 years’ experience our centre and its BKSA/IKO accredited instructors are recognised throughout the world for the quality of teaching. We also run our courses on the latest and greatest equipment to help you learn faster and safer.
We offer a range of courses, starting from a one day course, which is an excellent introduction into the world kite flying, to a full 3-day course which teaches you everything that you need to know to become a safe and competent kite surfer. Unlike our Kent and Poole schools we are more dependent on the tides, so we offer a 3-day course, which means that we can get you out in the best conditions possible.
We run our lessons from beaches with clearly marked zones for us to teach separate from the experienced rider’s zone. This enables our BKSA/IKO qualified instructors to teach in an ideal environment to help you progress and enjoy the sport to the fullest.
We provide you with all the equipment that you need for your lessons; wetsuits, booties, harnesses, helmets, boards and kites. All you need to bring is some food and loads of energy and enthusiasm!
Course Structure
Individual Days
1 day taster course – Price £99 (Click here to buy) This course offers a fantastic and fun introduction to kite flying, giving you all the skills and safety techniques to progress. Our objective is to teach you the fundamentals needed to fly a kite, which can then be used whether you chose to carry on with kite surfing, or perhaps land boarding/buggying.
This is a land based lesson, starting with small 2 line foil kites, and as the lesson progress, along with your skills, we move onto larger kites giving you a taste of what it feels like to fly an inflatable kite.
Some of the skills that you will come away with are;
- Basic set up, and pack down of kites.
- Wind window theory, natural obstacle awareness.
- Knowledge of all safety systems.
- Launching and landing.
- Basic flying techniques.
- Introduction to LEI kites.
- Rights of way.
Day 2 course – Price £99 (Click here to buy) This course continues directly on from the skills learnt on day 1. We head straight to the beach and get suited and ready to go. We will be using latest kites and boards, which makes learning a breeze. This day compromises of;
- Site assessment.
- Recap of skills from day 1.
- Set up of LEI kite.
- Launching and landing.
- Water relaunching.
- Body dragging.
- Upwind body dragging.
- Emergency packdown.
- Waterstart theory and practice.
Day 3 course – Price £99 (Click here to buy) Day 3 is primarily aimed at getting you up and riding on the board. You should have by now all the skills to control the kite safely, and the technique to get up, so it's time to put it all together! Be prepared for a full on day of fun..!

What next?
From here you will be at a stage where you will have learnt all the basic nuts and bolts of Kitesurfing. It will then allow you to get out there and practise more – either by purchasing your own equipment, supervised hire of kit, or by having further lessons.
