Introduction
Welcome to Surface2Air Sports!! We are a kitsurfing school with two main bases in the UK - these being in Folkestone, Kent and in Poole, Dorset. Surface2Air Sports began as a kitesurfing / kiteboarding school in 2001, after which a shop presence was acquired. We have been teaching kitesurfing now for just under 7 years and have taught many of the successful kite surfers on the south east coast, some of which now compete nationally.
At the Kent base we teach at Camber Sands, Greatstone and Dymchurch Beach. We are the only kitesurfing / kiteboarding school to have permission to use Dymchurch beach [kite zone] for learning purposes! Both Camber Sands and Greatstone are perfect for kitesurfing lessons with over 6 miles long of sandy beaches, shallow waters and smooth sea breezes!! These factors will help you to get the most out of your kitesurfing lessons with Surface2Air Sports.
At the Poole base we teach at Poole Harbour, Sandbanks. This, after Sydney, is the worlds largest natural harbour and is definitely worth a visit from all water goers!! The harbour has shallow waters for at least 300 metres out making teaching safe at all tide times!! Learning to kitesurf at Poole Harbour will enable you to build your kitesurfing / kiteboarding skills at a faster pace as your confidence will grow simultaneously. During the summer months Poole Harbour will warm up nicely, [due to shallow waters] making your kiteboarding lesson even more enjoyable - giving a vibe of a European kitesurfing spot.
We teach on a range of beaches which means we can teach in just about every wind direction – all we need is wind. Teaching months run from March to November and we run anything from individual, tailored lessons to full two day courses.
All of our instructors are BKSA/IKO qualified, which means that they reach the safety and proficiency standard of the British Kite Surfing Association and the International Kiteboarding Organisation. Maximum course sizes are 4 students to 1 instructor to abide by safety regulations – unlike many other schools in the UK. Surface2Air Sports has a 100% safety record so you really can leave your life in our hands!!
We teach on the latest and greatest kitesurfing / kiteboarding equipment which is all provided inclusive with the lesson - all you need is money for lunch and a positive attitude!! If you own a wetsuit and kite specific harness, feel free to bring these as they may fit you better than our kit would.
You may at this point be thinking – Why should I take up kitesurfing?? Well not only is it fun to do but it keeps you really fit and works a treat on those abs!! It also has a very fast learning curve and therefore anyone can look impressive after just a 2 day course.
