The 2017 Kitesurf season is now upon us. Cabrinha have released their anticipated 2017 Kites, and we’ve had a first hand look at them. Today, we’ll be running you through the tech specs and differences between the old and the new.
2017 Cabrinha FX:
Everyone’s favourite Freestyle/Crossover kite is back for 2017, with a revamped design. This year, Cabrinha have decided to go for a new colour scheme, with some pretty bold and exciting additions to the range. The FX is the go-to kite for unhooked freestyle tricks and mad kite-loops. The variety of conditions the Switchblade can be used in stays unmatched this year. It’s versatility makes it the perfect kite for any situation. The easy relaunch makes it easier to try more demanding tricks, without worrying about waiting half an hour for your kite to launch. For those that want style, power, performance and craftsmanship, the Switchblade is the kite for you.
The Radar is our choice for school kites, simply because of the fact that it’s amazing relaunch capabilities and freeride setup makes it perfect for the new kiter who wants to get into the sport of Kitesurfing. It’s light bar pressure and responsive design make it one of the main options for the beginners, or for the intermediate rider who wants a kite they can easily crossover from Freeride to Surf.
The Drifter is the Surf kite of dreams. The kite allows you to get up and riding using the power from the kite, and at a seconds notice dump it all for a pure surf feeling. The ability to do this makes it the perfect surfer’s kite, whether it be freeride or freestyle. It’s exclusive On-and-Offshore tuning options make it oh-so easy for you to get the feeling of the kite you want. Also, the kite has the best slackline drift on the market; this eans when your kite starts to fall out of the sky, it’s easier to get tension in the kines and keep it going. All these features make it the perfect kite for Surf, Skim or even Wakeboarding.
The Contra is the ultimate light-wind kite, there’s no doubt about that. With a new 19m size this year, it’s the perfect addition to any quiver this season. It’s ability to perform in the low-end make it the go-to kite for any lightwind session. The Contra will certainly lighten up the windless days, it’s freeride capabilities make it the perfect kite for light-wind sessions and for freeriding.
The Chaos kite is the high end technically performing kite in Cabrinha’s range, with many rider’s such as James Boulders choosing the kite for it’s freestyle design. The 6 Line Chaos 1X bar is a must, as it’s the only bar the kite will work with. This 6-Line Design uses the 2 extra lines as an arc support system, making the kite much more stable and powerful during kiteloops. All these features make it the kite for the professional rider who wants explosive pop and more height, and competition level tricks.
2017 Cabrinha Apollo:
The Apollo is Cabrinha’s newest kite in the lineup for 2017. The Apollos is the perfect for any kite situation where forward speed and acceleration must be matched.
