This year 2018/19 Bataleon Snowboards¬ have done something special, and have released a limited edition board and it is beautiful (both technically and to look at)!
So you ask, what is it? Well… the Thriller is a new designed built for the Japanese market but to be enjoyed by all. Based around the Bataleon Whatever¬ profile, making this snowboard a 99% Twin shape, meaning the same freedom to ride switch and send it in the park as a True Twin, but with the all-mountain versatility and powder float of more directional shapes.
Internally, however, the Thriller is more in tune with the world-renowned¬ Bataleon Evil Twin¬ having a comparative flex pattern (4/10) creates a snowboard that isn’t too soft for charging, but not too stiff for a buttery playful style. Combined with carbon X’s that sit under each binding that produces dampening to cushion landings and reduce vibrations as well as create torsional stiffness to improved edge-to-edge response.
Triple Base Technolgy is Bataleon’s patented 3D profiling that allows them to create their magnificent snowboards, by shaping the nose and the tail into three distinct sections it means that their boards can adapt to any mountain terrain! Gaining more float in powder, providing less edge catch, smoother turn initiation and the ability to stick more landings.
The Bataleon Thriller Snowboard also benefits from recent innovations such as SideKick a new addition to 3BT; a concave shaping just after the contact points on the snowboard allowing for even greater float and a smoother riding. Also, the new C.S.T. (Central Super Tube) is a hollow carbon rod milled into the core of the board for reduced weight and a snappier underfoot feeling without affecting flex.
Further refinements that really make the Thriller unique, include the addition of the Ultra Glide Sintered Base that will ride quicker and hold wax much longer. As well as a 50/50 poplar/paulownia wood core which is much lighter and has a significantly better material memory, than more traditional cores.
Despite being super limited edition and sporting some impressive upgrades, the 2019 Bataleon Thriller comes in at the same price as the Evil Twin at £429.
Finally, the Thriller is available in a 151cm, 154cm and 156cm only, however, it is always worth remembering that Bataleon snowboards ride 2-3cm longer in the powder than regular flat boards. We have very limited stock on this item so do get in touch!
