2017/18 BATALEON SNOWBOARDS AT S2AS

2017/18 BATALEON SNOWBOARDS AT S2AS

For over a decade, Bataleon has been the industry leader in 3D shape technology. They have tinkered and developed their patented 3BT shapes, creating boards with traditional camber and lifted contact points, making snowboarding more enjoyable for all. Hand built in Austria by the best snowcrafters in the world, Bataleon will always push the envelope in snowboard design and performance.

Bataleon has been one of our flagship brands here at S2AS over the past few years, and with good reason. Their innovative design ideas, and forward moving attitude has always been something that has interested us in the shop. When our team tested the range of bataleon boards at the Avant Premiere Snowboard Test this year, its safe to say they fell in love. There were 3 in particular that caught the eye of our team, these were as follows:

Bataleon Global Warmer

Bataleon’s goal with the Global Warmer has always been to produce a high end twin board, fine tuned for park riding. With a flex rating rating of 3, the G.W. isn’t too stiff longitudinally, while the carbon placement underneath the feet ensure that this board will not buckle under the pressure of high speeds and bigger kickers. This board really can be ridden on the jib-line or on the kicker line, making it one of the most versatile park boards on the market.

Bataleon Wallie

Possibly the most interesting and innovative design coming onto the market next winter. When creating the Wallie, Bataleon’s main aim was to give their team of riders something fresh and innovative for jibbing and park riding. So where better to start than rethinking what a park board should look like. With the skateboard inspired WallieTips™, this board can open up a whole new world of possibilities when shredding the rail line, or playing around on the piste.

Bataleon Jam

The Jam is Bataleon’s all-mountain murderer. The Jam is designed for next level performance, and absolutely loves to be ridden fast and hard. This season’s Jam has a whole new shape combining a slightly directional freestyle outline with a true twin contact shape and updated 3BT, featuring Bataleon’s all new SideKick tips. The two carbon stringers that run from the tip to the tail of this board give it a stiff and responsive torsional flex, perfect for the kind of rider who loves to dig deep into those fast, aggressive carves.1718_THE_JAM_TOP_WEB

Bataleon Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet was born when Bataleon asked themselves if they could create the perfect resort powder board that wasn’t specific to just free riding or big mountain riding. They wanted to create a shorter, wider and super floaty twin board that would ride like a park board, in the powder. The new sidekick 3BT feature really gives this board a loose, surfy feel in the powder, whilst still feeling stable on the piste. Being able to ride both ways on this board really opens up the opportunity for new tricks and lines in the powder. This board really is a must for any powder hunter.

ETA (Evil Twin Asymmetrical)

New to this year’s bataleon range is the ETA. The ETA is an asymmetrical spin on the well-loved Evil Twin. This board features a unique asymmetrical 3BT shape and symmetrical twin radii, meaning it has a different uplift on the toe edge than the heel edge for unparalleled control and ride. The reason for the asymmetrical shapes comes from Bataleon’s realisation that rider’s naturally require more edge on the heel side than the toe side. Although this board is quite stiff and aggressive, the subtle 3D tweaking still makes it super fun and forgiving to ride.

Bataleon Stallion

The Stallion is built for all you big boys out there. It’s designed to be extra wide to accommodate large shoe sizes, while the updated SideKick 3BT tips makes it feel like you’re riding a 151. The super thick carbon stringers that run from the tip to the tail of the board promote a super stiff flex pattern that will hold any weight, in any carve, at any speed. This board is Bataleon’s answer for any bigger guy looking to ride a bigger, wider rig that doesn’t want to compromise any agility or response.

Goliath

The Goliath has been Bataleon’s flagship all-mountain freestyle board for many years now and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Bataleon have updated the Goliath with a fresh new shape that is ready for years of hard graft. The goliath really is is the ultimate combination of power, precision and agility. Now with upgraded sidekick tips, you really won’t believe how good this all-mountain freestyle board is.

Fun.Kink

The funnest board on the mountain just got a little more fun. The Fun.Kink is one of the cheaper boards in the bataleon range, however don’t let that put you off. The super-soft flex rating of 3 makes this board a super forgiving, butter machine, whilst the updated 3BT shaping with the SideKick tips has made it even more forgiving and playful. This board is ideal for any rider looking to have a good time all over the mountain, equally this board is perfect for the beginner rider looking to gain more confidence in their riding.

The Whatever

The name really does say it all with this one. The Whatever is an all-round freestyle board that does everything, but not only that; it does everything well. Whatever the terrain, whatever the conditions, the Whatever drops this year with an updated shape, 3BT with SideKick tips. The carbon stringer placed in between the feet allows for strong aggressive carving while not compromising any flex in the tips, so you can still butter that crumpet if you want.

Flight E.S.

If you’re looking for the best of the best, there really is no substitute to the Flight E.S. Bataleon’s Elite Series uses the lightest and most advanced materials on the market to make this snowboard fly like a space ship. Bataleon use their special VLC (very light core) to make this board feather light, while the carbon stringers that run from the tail to the front binding inserts promotes powerful carves and an aggressive riding style. The Flight E.S. really is the ultimate lightweight all-mountain freestyle board.

Evil Twin

If you’ve heard of Bataleon before, then there’s no doubt that you’ve heard about this little beauty before. There really is no freestyle park board as versatile as the Evil Twin, so it’s not coincidence that this board has been in the line since day one. The basalt stringers placed in an ‘X’ shape underneath each foot promotes a super snappy pop, whilst not compromising any flex in the tips. Now with an all-new shape thanks to the addition of the new SideKick tips. The evil twin is perfect for the kind of rider who views the mountain from a freestylers perspective, but the true home for this baby is in the park.

Feelbetter

The Feelbetter is probably our favourite women’s snowboard here at S2AS. The reason being, it really does do exactly what it says on the tin. The Feelbetter is a soft and forgiving board made for female riders looking to progress with confidence, the 3D shaping with the lifted contact points in the tip and tail will make edge catch a thing of the past. In Bataleon’s words; “why feel good, when you can feel better!”.
